Through its community participation ChargeMunich.com initiative, JOLT will double the number of fast charging locations in Munich
Munich, 17 November 2021 – In the next few years, more and more electric cars will be on the roads. If you live in a city, however, charging options are very limited. Moreover, only a few will have the possibility to charge at home.
Since local engagement is so important, and you achieve much more together, JOLT is launching the citizen participation “ChargeMunich”. With the help of crowdfunding, one hundred ultra-fast chargers will be installed in Munich and the surrounding area over the next few years. Ultra-fast charging means that an EV’s weekly needs are charged in about 15 minutes.
Starting at €100, everyone can purchase Merlin Bonds, which return an interest rate of up to 6% p.a. The funds are used to install the chargers, thereby providing access to charging and sustainably improving air quality in the city.
“At JOLT, we firmly believe that a successful shift towards e-mobility is only possible if there are enough fast charging stations available. I myself live in Munich. There is really great potential in the city in terms of expanding the fast-charging infrastructure. We are giving everyone the opportunity to get involved and support the mobility transition ” says CEO Maurice Neligan.
Jolt Energy Group is a Dublin and Munich-based group, founded in 2017 by a team of former automotive and power engineering managers with the aim of breaking the traditional conventions of urban charging.
JOLT’s mission is to build a network of high-performance chargers in major cities over the next ten years. JOLT uses advanced mobile charging stations with integrated batteries to overcome the weaknesses of the existing electricity grid. In some cases, this means placing charging stations like mobile phone battery packs on city streets and swapping them with freshly charged units when they are empty.
