JOLT tests charging infrastructure in a residential neighbourhood<\/h2>

Fast charging in Munich needs to be available where people actually are in their daily lives. That is exactly what we are currently working on in the Harthof neighbourhood. At Neuherbergstra\u00dfe 109, we have been operating a high-power charger since December 2025 and, together with strong partners, are examining how urban charging infrastructure can be integrated into existing residential areas in a reliable, efficient and practical way for everyday use.<\/p>

The site is part of the EU project ASCEND. In the north of Munich, Harthof is set to be developed into an energy-positive neighbourhood. For us, this is a particularly exciting use case because urban planning, the energy transition and e-mobility come together here directly.<\/p>

Why fast charging in residential neighbourhoods matters so much<\/h3>

The demand for public charging infrastructure is growing. At the same time, many cities still lack the right offer in exactly those places where people live, work and start their journeys. Fast charging in Munich is therefore not just a technical issue. It is also about everyday usability, land use and the meaningful integration of charging infrastructure into established neighbourhoods.<\/p>

This is exactly where we come in. We want to bring fast charging to the places where it is needed in everyday life. Not to the outskirts, but right into the city.<\/p>

The Harthof site as a real-world test<\/h3>

For us, Neuherbergstra\u00dfe 109 is more than a single charging point. The site is a real-world test of how high-power charging can fit into an existing residential environment. This is not only about charging capacity, but also about how urban charging infrastructure is used and integrated in practice.<\/p>

This is especially relevant for us because several requirements come together in Harthof: high-performance charging, limited space, demanding usage requirements and a close connection to everyday life in the neighbourhood.<\/p>

Reaching the next stage together with strong partners<\/h3>

What makes this project particularly important for us is the collaboration with UnternehmerTUM, M\u00fcnchner Wohnen and the City of Munich. It brings together technological implementation, scientific support and municipal experience.<\/p>

This is exactly the combination we need if we want not only to build urban charging infrastructure, but also to keep developing it in a future-ready way. Projects like this help us better understand how fast charging in neighbourhoods can be planned, implemented and scaled.<\/p>

A blueprint for urban charging infrastructure<\/h3>

For us, the Harthof site is therefore far more than a stand-alone project. It can show how fast charging in Munich can become an even stronger part of urban neighbourhoods in the future. When charging infrastructure works where people live, it creates a model for further locations.<\/p>

Together with our project partners, we are bringing the energy transition to the places where it becomes tangible: directly into neighbourhoods.
